Yamaha is looking to take a share of the larger displacement playbike market with a new bike, the TT-R 230. Replacing the cantankerous TT-R225, the new bike is a hit in all the right places, mainly the weight department which is noticeable from the second you take it off the side stand.

The North Shore Lifeguard Association has published a surf safety poster with the most important safety tips for both visitors and residents.
The design and graphic layout were done by Pat Kelly, Rick Williams and John Bain and feature several instructions about the rip currents of the four most popular surfing beaches of the North Shore: Haleiwa, Waimea Bay, Pipeline and Sunset Beach.

The IGNITION3 cameras were on hand as David Pearson wins an epic battle in Round #1 of the AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound Series. Destry Abbott takes 2nd, Jacob Argubright 3rd. Kurt Caselli lead most of the race on his KTM until the motor gave out just one mile from the finish and he had to push his bike across the finish line to a 5th place finish.

Steve Thorp is now the fastest windsurfer in the world. The British sailor has set a new world speed windsurfing record by reaching the 50.48 knots, at West Kirby, England, on the 3rd January 2012.
Thorp wore two GPS units that delivered different results. The first one peaked at 54 knots and the other one at 50.48 knots. After a careful review gpsspeedsurfing.com confirmed the second record, which was enough to take the lead.
“Obviously they couldn’t both be right and in the end it was found that the faster time was a spike due to the gps loosing a satelite or two for a few moments, possibly due to the extreme acceleration and chop, combined with the weather”, explains Steve Thorp.
“This shows the importance of wearing two gps and getting the tracks looked at and ratified by the experts. Obviously I’m beyond chuffed with that.”

When Steffi Laier, Red Bull Teka KTM factory rider and two-time Women's MX World Champion takes to the track in the pre-season MX races in Valence, France, this weekend it will be her first competitive ride for 2011. Steffi has been training hard on the bike since mid December and in Valence tests herself against a field of male riders.
At the French pre-season special, she faces off with a strong lineup of riders including those from the Nestaan JM Racing KTM squad led by Joel Roelants, Yentel Martens and young talents like 125 European champion Jordi Tixier of France and Austrian Pascal Rauchenecker. Also in the field are other KTM riders like British rider Nathan Parker (PROPPA-COM KTM and French riders Loïc Leonce (B G R KTM) and Loïc Larrieu (WOLFF KTM). But these and other top riders hold no fear for Steffi who his very well known for her toughness, skill and courage when attacking any MX track.

Changing a tire with a foam insert instead of a tube can be very tough on the finish of your bike’s rims. The common practice is to fasten multiple locking pliers to the rim edge to hold the bead of the tire down. Many modern bikes have colored rims with an easily damageable finish. I wrap the jaws in duct tape to protect the rim finish. You will be able to see when the teeth of the jaws start to come through the tape. That means it’s time to replace the tape.
